Startup Screen

Startup Screen

The Startup Screen Editor window is used to set the startup screen picture and dialog options for an installer application. The Startup Screen Editor is opened from the Script:Startup Screen menu option.

An installer's startup screen is the first thing displayed when the user runs your installer. You can set the startup screen to remain open until the user clicks or presses any key to dismiss it, or you can have it automatically dismiss after a few seconds. This is determined by the Auto dismiss setting in the Appearance Options window.

The Startup Screen Editor window contains the following items:

Black & White Picture
This field holds the picture that will be displayed if the user's monitor is set to black & white. If no picture is specified in this field, a default black & white picture will be used.
Color Picture
This field holds the picture that will be displayed if the user's monitor is set to color. If no picture is specified in this field, the Black & White Picture is used. To minimize the amount of space needed in your installer, you can paste a color picture in the Black & White Picture field and leave the Color Picture field empty. In this case, your picture will be used on both black & white and color monitors. If you do this, check your picture on monitor set to black & white to make sure it looks OK.
OK Button Location
This popup menu determines the location of an OK button on your installer's startup dialog.
Copyright Message
This popup menu determines the placement of the DragInstall copyright message. This copyright message is required to be on the startup screen of all installers that you distribute.
Dialog Style
This radio set allows you to set the border style for the startup dialog.
Paste
This button pastes a picture from the Clipboard into the selected picture field (indicated by the heavy border). The pasted picture replaces any picture already in the field.
Clear
This button empties the selected picture field. This change is not made in the script document until the Change button is clicked.
Import...
This button allows you to import your black & white or color picture from a picture file (technically, a file of type 'PICT'). Once text is imported into the Startup Screen Editor, there is no link between the picture in the window and the picture in the file. Changes made in the picture file are not made to the picture in the window.
Change
This button closes this window, saving any changes.
Cancel
This button closes this window, canceling any changes.
